Home Lighting Top Tips

Choosing the lighting for your home is never an easy task. There are thousands of choices of lighting these days which in some respect is great because you will certainly be able to find lighting that you like but on the other side of the coin you can be left feeling a little overwhelmed and have no idea which type of lighting would look best in each room. Here are some tips to help you when you ware wading through the mountains of home lighting choice to ensure you are picking the right light for the room, the house, and yourself.

Home Lighting Budget – as with most things we buy, especially for our homes, we have a budget in mind of how much we want to spend whether it is an exact figure or a general ceiling mark we don’t want to pass. Knowing your budget will give you a great starting off point and will get rid of the lighting options that don’t match your budget.

Think About The Room – rather than looking at the home lighting options and deciding whether you like the light or not, think about the rooms in your house and whether it will fit within the room in question. After you have decided if it will go or not then you can decide whether you like it or if there is a better lighting option available.

Home Lighting Checklist – a great way to ensure you will choose the best lighting options for your room is to write out a checklist for each room that the piece of lighting you choose for the room ticks all the boxes. For example in the bedroom you may write down that you want the lighting to be of warm colours, low hanging, and quite decorative, but in the living room because it is quite condensed already you want the lighting to be out the way to enhance the little space there is. When shopping around for lighting be sure to confer with your checklist at all times.

Research Home Lighting – whether you are an expert interior designer or a novice in home decorating always do a bit of research before you set out on your home lighting journey. Look at the different styles available to give you an idea, and look at some example of rooms and how they are decorated and the lighting that is used. When looking at the pictures look for rooms that are of a similar size to yours and if possible have the same colours, there is no point in choosing a light that looks great in a huge bedroom that is blue when your room is quite tiny and is bright red.
