The globe is a nice idea, however the one from Brookstone wasn’t clear on the inside surface…a lot of spotty distortion. It seemed defective to me where it was very hard to read any of the country names. I called Brookstone and they accepted it back and credited me, but did not reimburse me for my shipping charges back to them. I felt that was poor customer service when the item was defective.

This little curiosity was a gift for a friend with a small child and both are delighted. Pretty neat that it is powered by the earth and sun. A great teaching tool and just kind of mesmerizing.

Product is pretty cool. It rotates around as if by magic. An inspection will reveal no battery holder. It is a fun novelty item/ conversation starter for Geeks like me.

I had to decide between getting this and the Levitron Ion levitating globe. I decided to go with this because it does not require an AC adapter and is powered by light instead.
Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice. Not only does this globe not levitate like the Levitron Ion does, but it barely rotates as advertised. I placed the globe in the brightest room in my house and it barely worked. It would rotate extremely slowly and then eventually come to a halt.
When it did rotate, it would rotate so slowly that you couldn’t even tell it was rotating unless you stared at it real closely. A casual passer-by would never notice that it’s rotating so if you’re getting it as a conversation piece like I did, don’t bother.
If you want a rotating globe, get the newest version of the Levitron Ion. It’s about the same price and is a lot cooler.

I had just seen this product in Hong Kong for over $400 USD which made
me hesitant to buy it there, so I was thrilled to find it on Amazon for $100. Actually received the antique beige color rather than the blue ocean which was fine
with me. The globe is an elegant and interesting desk accessory. The globe turns without any visible power or mechanical apparatus. I gave this one as a gift but I would like one for my own office.
