Recent trends in the research show that our home lighting is going to change vastly in the coming few years. This article discusses about the recent technology where walls will provide emit the light instead of the regular lamps and tubes.

UK Government funded research on lighting revealed recently that the new technology  involves coating with a light emitting chemical directly on the wall or using a wall paper. This coating glows when a small voltage of 2-5 volts is passed through.

This glow provides a light evenly thought a room, thereby closely resembling sunlight and does not form shades since the source is light is a distributed one compared to the traditional focused sources like tubes and lamps.

This technology will take some time to actually implement, and it is estimated that by the year 2011, this system will come to the market.
